Nigel has over 30 years of regeneration, architectural and urban design experience including major area based regeneration programmes, master planning, community involvement, building design and construction and project management. I have extensive experience working for a wide variety of clients and public sector organisations, undertaking community and stakeholder consultation and working with statutory agencies.

Previous Roles

Tibbalds Monro: Associate Architect

Responsible for the co-ordination and management of large scale development projects including site development strategies, planning applications and implementation, working with property developers. Also responsible for large area regeneration frameworks and the development of area and town centre policy.

The role involved co-ordinating and leading multi-disciplinary teams of senior professionals on major regeneration projects such as Kings Cross Railway Lands Development Options; Heathrow Airport Development Strategy; Woolwich Arsenal Development Strategy; Kingston University Development Strategy/implementation; Brunel University Development Strategy/implementation; Prince’s Dock Development, Liverpool City Centre; Old Port of Chester Town Centre Regeneration; Lurgan and Portadown Town Centre Regeneration; Imperial Wharf housing desing; and Foxbury listed building refurbishment.

These projects mixed physical implementation plans with economic and social issues and required community involvement/consultation and led to planning applications and physical development.

London Borough of Havering – Regeneration Manager

Responsibilities included leading and co-ordinating the work of the Regeneration Section to ensure the maximisation of economic, social and environmental opportunities for regenerating Havering. Leading and co-ordinating the development, funding and management of projects and programmes in line with European, national, regional and, in particular, local priorities and implementation of major capital and revenue projects. Supporting the successful development of Havering’s regeneration strategy and action plan and co-ordinating new regeneration strategies. Leading the regeneration of key geographic areas as well as taking responsibility for economic development and inward investment within Havering.

Responsible for setting up and working with a range of Partnerships- Thames Gateway, London Riverside, Romford Town Centre, Hornchurch Town Centre, Harold Hill and various Community Partnerships.

In the case of London Riverside, this led to the implementation of £33m LDA grant funded programme, including 6,000 new homes and 6,000 new jobs and a Centre of Engineering and Manufacturing Excellence.

In Romford Town Centre, £500m or private sector investment was secured to fund 2,000 new homes, new commercial development, cultural activities and access and transport improvements.

StudioY2 Partnership – Partner

Established Studio Y2 Partnership in 2012 to undertake a range of Regeneration, Architectural, Urban Design and Planning work.  The practice has undertaken a range of work from providing design and development advice, to feasibility studies and design advice in relation to new residential and commercial developments for clients.
